speed out to the coral cayes in Belize staying on the island of Caye Caulker. The town of Antigua is next, and arguably the prettiest town in all of Central America. We base ourselves in this are for a few days to explore Lake Atitlan and the surrounding countryside. Heading southwards we travel through Honduras and Nicaragua where we visit the ruins of Copan, stay on the island of Ometepe in Lake Nicaragua where you have a choice of two volcanoes to hike up. Then onto the Pacific coastline to San Juan del Sur. Our last country is Costa Rica. On the Caribbean side we visit Cahuita National Park and watch Green Sea Turtles nesting (seasonal) in Tortuguero National Park. Then over to the Pacific side stopping at the town of La Fortuna at the base of active Volcano Arenal, a great place to do white water rafting, trekking and soaking in the local hot springs.
