Experience the major highlights of China, from Beijing to Shanghai, in this eight day tour, bursting with famous sights. We explore the capital Beijing – from the Imperial Forbidden City, China’s centre of power for over 500 years, Tiananmen Square, the Summer Palace, and the Temple of Heaven, to the small traditional alleyways of the Hutongs, typical of the old parts of Beijing, and an important part of China’s culture. We walk along the spectacular Great Wall of China at Mutianyu, and visit the Ming Tombs, as well as seeing the Pandas at Beijing Zoo, before heading to Xi’an. Here we visit the City Wall, the Wild Goose Pagoda, Banpo Museum, and of course the two thousand year old Army of Terracotta Warriors, unearthed in 1974. From Xi’an we fly to the trading port of Shanghai, formerly known as “the Paris of the East”, built on the trade of opium, silk and tea. Here we visit the fabulous Jade Buddha Temple, the Yu Gardens and the Bund Area, Shanghai’s most famous mile.
