Day #1 San Francisco. Arrive in San Francisco. Pick up your rental car at the airport and begin exploring, or proceed to your hotel.
Day #2 San Francisco–Yosemite National Park. Spend some time discovering San Francisco this morning or start the journey to Yosemite National Park. Before arriving in Yosemite you may want to stop in Sonora and visit Columbia State Historic Park, where you can experience the bygone area of the California Gold Rush. Arrive in Yosemite National Park, home to spectacular granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams, and Giant Sequoia groves. Approximately 188 miles/302 km.
Day #3 Yosemite National Park. Yosemite is full of opportunity! Explore by hike or bike, spend time with a park ranger to learn about Yosemite, or get a broad overview on a tram tour. During the summer months you can even help Yosemite by volunteering for a few hours.
Day #4 Yosemite National Park–Napa. Drive to California’s wine country today. You may want to stop in the state capital, where you can get a taste of the Old West in Old Sacramento, complete with cobblestone streets flanked with wide wooden sidewalks. Approximately 194 miles/312 km.
Day #5 Napa. An entire day to discover this wonderful region.
Day #6 Napa–Eureka/Redwood National Park. Drive to the coast and take scenic Highway 1 north. Pass beautiful beaches, charming coastal communities, and scenic ocean views. Approximately 258 miles/415 km.
Day #7 Eureka/Redwood National Park. A full day at leisure to explore Redwood National Park.
Day #8 Eureka/Redwood National Park–San Francisco. Retrace your steps along the coast or travel inland. Before arriving back in San Francisco, you may want to stop in the picturesque waterfront community of Sausalito, world-renowned for its Mediterranean flair and breathtaking views. Approximately 272 miles/437 km.
Day #9 San Francisco. Return your rental car at the airport prior to departure.
