Chicago. Arrive in Chicago and pick up your rental car at the airport. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. Why not enjoy a stroll on Navy Pier this evening or enjoy the views from Skydeck Chicago (formerly the Sears Tower)? |

Chicago–Milwaukee. Spend some time this morning exploring Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, take a river cruise, or explore Millennium Park. Depart Chicago and head north to Milwaukee, known as the “City of Festivals” due to the many ethnic, cultural, and religious events the city hosts throughout the year. Enjoy a stroll along the sparkling waters of Lake Michigan, take a tour of the Miller Brewery and enjoy tasty samples, visit the Milwaukee Public Market, or spend time at the recently opened Harley-Davidson Museum, where you’ll learn all about this famous American icon. Milwaukee–Door County. Continue your journey north along Lake Michigan to picturesque Door County. With more than 300 miles of shoreline and plenty of green space, outdoor recreation abounds. Bike, hike, horseback ride, kayak, and more. You can also take advantage of other activities in the area, such as the many art galleries, antique shops, wineries, and local culinary delights that include the traditional Door County Fish Boil. Approximately 150 miles/241 km. |

Door County–Mackinac Island Area. As you journey north to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, you may want to visit one of the many lighthouses in the area. Since much of the shoreline is rocky, the lighthouses helped 19th- and 20th-century sailors safely navigate the lake and surrounding islands. Spend the next two nights in the Mackinac Island area, where you’ll step back in time in a place where bicycles and horse-drawn carriages are the only means of transportation. Mackinac Ssland Area. Spend the day exploring this National Historic Landmark and beautiful location. Take a carriage ride, explore historic Fort Mackinac, shop the quaint downtown area, enjoy Afternoon Tea at the Grand Hotel, or just relax with a cool drink on the porch of the historic Grand Hotel. |

Mackinac Island Area–Bay Harbor. Time this morning to explore more of Mackinac Island, or you may want to visit nearby Sault Ste. Marie to view the Soo Locks, which connect Lake Superior and Lake Huron and ship more cargo through annually than the Panama Canal. Arrive in Bay Harbor, a playground for all seasons, where you can golf, cycle, swim, fish, hike, shop, visit a local casino, or comb area beaches for northern Michigan’s famous Petoskey stones. Relax tonight and enjoy a stunning sunset over Lake Michigan. Approximately 44 miles/71 km. |

Bay Harbor–Holland. Drive south today and consider stopping in the scenic city of Charlevoix. Later, arrive in Holland, the American city with a Dutch accent! During your free time you may want to visit the Wooden Shoe & Delft Factory, spend time at the Dutch Village, or marvel at the flowers at the Tulip Gardens. You can also visit a local U-Pick farm and get some local homegrown peaches, sweet cherries, apples, plums, and apricots; shop downtown for a favorite souvenir; or rent a canoe and paddle out to the “Big Red” lighthouse. This evening, why not enjoy a scenic cruise aboard a Victorian-style paddlewheel boat, complete with Captain’s Feast and relaxing music? Approximately 240 miles/386 km. |
