South American Sampler W/ Amazon Pre Ext

Explore the beauty of South America during this exhilarating vacation to Brazil, Argentina, and Chile plus the Amazon Jungle. Visit Rio de Janeiro, a vibrant, bustling city known for its beautiful beaches and beautiful people. The birthplace of Samba, Rio’s vitality comes alive as you experience its sights, sounds, and flavors. Perhaps visit the bar where “Girl from Ipanema” was composed.
Buenos Aires is regarded as the “Paris of South America” with its chic shopping, French architecture, outdoor cafés, legendary nightlife, and cosmopolitan cuisine. Buenos Aires is famous for its sensuous Tango dance, but did you know the Tango had a scurrilous birth in the 1890s when it was started in the impoverished bars and brothels of La Boca, the port area of Buenos Aires? Now a famous dance with its thrusting hip movements and intertwined limbs, it once shocked polite society in Europe. You’ll see a Tango show and learn more about this passionate dance on your Globus tour.

In Santiago, step back into the 16th century as you trace the city’s colonial history and heritage. Santiago sits with the snowcapped Andes Mountains as a backdrop, and it offers lovely cafes, shops, and attractions. You’ll have plenty of leisure time to explore the city.

Cities are not the only thing you’ll see on this vacation. You’ll also travel to Iguassu Falls, with its breathtaking falls that words cannot adequately describe. Then there’s the Amazon rainforest, where you’ll discover the lush vegetation and native wildlife of this amazing ecosystem. It’s an experience you’ll never forget!

From the friendly people and the fashionable shops to the historical monuments, exquisite restaurants, and stunning scenery, this vacation to South America is sure to delight.

No one brings the world’s stories to life like we do. What story will you discover next?

Day #2 Manaus–Amazon Jungle. Today your “Meeting of the Waters” tour passes by the impressive British-built Custom House and the floating port. CRUISE along the chocolate-colored Rio Negro to its confluence with the yellow-gray Rio Solimões, where the two rivers form the mighty Amazon. For four miles the differently colored bodies of water flow side by side and never mix! After lunch on the river, explore a JUNGLE ISLAND (if the water level is not too low) with fascinating native flora and fauna. Later this afternoon, arrive at the Ecopark Jungle Lodge situated on the banks of the Rio Negro inside the Amazonian rainforest. (B,L,D)
Day #3 Amazon Jungle. Accompanied by a Naturalist, enjoy a guided JUNGLE WALK introducing you to the flora and fauna that thrives in the Amazon. After lunch, depart the lodge and sail up the river to visit a Caboclo’s NATIVE AMAZON VILLAGE to learn about their traditions, costumes, and culture. Also try your hand at piranha fishing! Later, visit the MONKEY JUNGLE RESERVE, where researchers work to rehabilitate captive primates and reintroduce them to the jungle. Here, you have the opportunity to see a feeding of spider monkeys, squirrel monkeys, woolly monkeys, and capuchin monkeys.
