London To Munich

Introduce your family to the wonders of Europe! Begin in London with guided sightseeing of the main city highlights and a “flight” on the London Eye for stunning views of the city. Hop aboard the high-speed Eurostar train to Paris, where you will ride the elevator to the top of the Eiffel Tower and will see the city highlights with a Local Guide, including the Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elysées, and a visit to Notre Dame Cathedral. On to Switzerland via high-speed TGV train. Stop in Basel and continue by motorcoach to Lucerne in the heart of the Alps. An included orientation tour features the Lion Monument, Old Town, and famed Chapel Bridge. On the way to Austria, visit a Swiss chocolate confectionary to learn about chocolate making. Also stop in Vaduz, capital of the Principality of Liechtenstein, before arriving in Innsbruck to see Maximilian’s Golden Roof. In Salzburg, Mozart’s birthplace, guided sightseeing features sights from the Sound of Music. An included excursion to Hohenwerfen Fortress teaches you about traditional hunting methods using birds of prey, while another highlight is a visit by horse carriage to King Ludwig’s Neuschwanstein Castle, the inspiration for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle. Day #1 Arrive in London, England. Time at leisure today to rest before your adventure begins, or you may choose to set out on your own to discover London. At 6 pm, your Tour Director will be waiting for you and your family for some activities to help you get acquainted with your traveling companions. Then, a special welcome dinner at your hotel. (D)
Day #2 Discover London & Ride the London Eye. Join your Local Guide for a memorable morning of sightseeing that includes all the famous landmarks: the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben beside the River Thames, Westminster Abbey, Whitehall’s mounted horseguards and the Prime Minister’s Downing Street, Piccadilly Circus and Buckingham Palace. A special highlight is a “flight” on the LONDON EYE, the world’s tallest observation wheel with stunning views of the city. The afternoon is free. Consider Madame Tussauds, the infamous London Dungeon, or the Tower of London. This evening, maybe dinner followed by a cruise on the River Thames or take in one of London’s West End theater shows? Day #3 Cross the Channel by High-Speed Eurostar Train & Visit the Top of the Eiffel Tower. This morning, transfer to the railway station to board the high-speed EUROSTAR TRAIN to Paris. Upon arrival in this magnificent city, ride the elevators to the top of the EIFFEL TOWER and delight in the spectacular views. This evening, you may wish to join an optional cruise on the River Seine, followed by a drive through the illuminated city. (B,D)
Day #4 Discover the “City of Light” & Visit Notre Dame. Tour the world capital of chic and style with a Local Guide and admire its most famous sights: the Opéra, Arc de Triomphe, and Champs-Elysées. Visit NOTRE DAME CATHEDRAL, the setting for Hugo’s novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame, written in 1831. Balance of the day is at leisure for an optional excursion to the Louvre Museum, where you can admire Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. (B)
Day #5 High-Speed TGV Train from Paris to Basel & Orientation Walk of Lucerne. Travel by high-speed TGV TRAIN to Basel, Switzerland, where your motorcoach will be waiting to take you to German-speaking Lucerne with its sparkling lake and alpine scenery. There is time before dinner to stretch your legs on an orientation walk. Admire Thorwaldsen’s LION MONUMENT and the ornate patrician houses of the picturesque Old Town, then cross the famous covered CHAPEL BRIDGE to the Jesuit Church. (B)
Day #6 Swiss Chocolate Confectionary. Journey to an original Swiss CHOCOLATE CONFECTIONARY, where you are also invited to try your skills at making this mouth-watering treat. The afternoon is free to relax, shop, explore Lucerne on your own, take an optional excursion to one of the famous Swiss mountains, or maybe an optional cruise on the fjord-like Lake Lucerne. Dinner is included at your hotel this evening. (B,D)
Day #7 Vaduz & Emperor Maximilian’s Golden Roof. Drive to the tiny Principality of Liechtenstein, with an area of 160 sq km/61.8 sq miles, which is the fourth-smallest country in Europe. After a break in its capital, Vaduz, continue on to Innsbruck, the provincial capital of Tyrol in western Austria. Enjoy an orientation walk through quaint medieval lanes to the landmark Emperor Maximilian’s GOLDEN ROOF, a 3-story balcony built to serve as a royal box where the Emperor could sit in luxury and enjoy tournaments in the square below. This evening you might wish to experience an optional horse-drawn carriage ride in the typical Tyrolean countryside. (B,D)
Day #8 The Birthplace of Mozart. Drive to Salzburg, birthplace of Mozart. Guided sightseeing takes you through the historic center: admire MIRABELL GARDENS, where some scenes from Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music were filmed; the Great Festival Hall; and ST. PETER'S CHURCHYARD. Later there is time for an optional excursion to Hellbrunn Castle with its trick fountains. (B)
Day #9 Hohenwerfen Fortress & Falconry. Today, visit the 11th-century HOHENWERFEN FORTRESS, which is located atop a 508-foot-high rock. Take the diagonal elevator to the upper castle courtyard for a tour of the fortress and its grounds. The fortress is also home to the First Austrian Falconry Museum and the birds of prey nature trail. Here, watch and learn about traditional hunting methods using birds of prey during flight demonstrations by professional falconers. This evening, enjoy an included dinner at your hotel. (B,D)
Day #10 Sightseeing in Munich & Try a Bavarian Brezel. Drive to Munich, Germany’s third-largest city. Your guided sightseeing includes an orientation drive featuring the Olympic Stadium with its 1,000-foot-high Television Tower and MARIENPLATZ with the famous Glockenspiel that chimes 3 times a day during summer, its life-size statues re-enacting a story from the 16th-century. Also try a tasty, Bavarian BREZEL. Your Tour Director will have suggestions for optional activities. (B)
Day #11 Excursion to Neuschwanstein Castle. Located in the Bavarian Alps on a hilltop overlooking the Hohenschwangau Valley, enjoy a guided visit of King Ludwig II’s magical NEUSCHWANSTEIN CASTLE. The king’s fairytale refuge was the inspiration for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle. Also marvel at vistas of the king’s childhood residence, Hohenschwangau Castle, located nearby. This evening, celebrate the success of your vacation at the included farewell dinner. (B,D)
