Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo

Travel Canada’s scenic coast and become inspired by its beauty. Throughout Nova Scotia, Cape Breton Island, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick, you experience whale-watching, rugged seascapes, scenic lighthouses, and pristine beaches. Start your Canadian vacation in Halifax and enjoy a city sightseeing tour, including Fairlawn Cemetery, the final resting place for more than 100 Titanic passengers. In Baddeck on Cape Breton Island, visit the Alexander Graham Bell Museum and the famous Cabot Trail. Travel through Cape Breton Highlands National Park, an area known for spectacular views of the ocean and mountains. A ferry ride across Northumberland Straight brings you to Prince Edward Island and Charlottetown, where on a guided tour you visit Prince Edward Island National Park and the Anne of Green Gables farmhouse.

Cross into New Brunswick and stop in Moncton and Fredericton, New Brunswick’s capital city. Travel to St. Andrews by-the-Sea for a whale watching cruise. Also stop in Saint John and at Hopewell Rocks, where you learn about the highest and wildest tides in the world, before the conclusion of your vacation in Halifax. An excursion from Halifax takes you to Peggy’s Cove, a picturesque area and one of the most photographed locations in Canada. This tour through Canada’s scenic east coast is an unforgettable getaway throughout a seaside paradise.

Join us on this special departure and be a part of the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, one of the world’s premier cultural and entertainment spectaculars. In 17th century Dutch villages, drummers marched through the streets, summoning British soldiers to return to their quarters from the taverns and inns. A drum beat signaling innkeepers to “doe den tap toe” (turn off the taps) was shortened to “tattoo.” You’ll experience a backstage tour that will take you behind the scenes of the International Tattoo, Canada Day celebrations and parade with Tattoo cast, and reserved seats for the matinee show that finishes with fireworks on the waterfront.

Day #3 Halifax. Happy Canada Day! Today Canada celebrates it’s 144th birthday and you will be part of the celebration. Throughout the streets of Halifax and along the harbour there will be a variety of parties, events and outdoor concerts. An afternoon parade helps kick off the start of the ROYAL NOVA SCOTIA INTERNATIONAL TATTOO before heading to your reserved seats for the matinee show. Day #4 HALIFAX–BADDECK. Early morning departure for rugged Cape Breton Island. Arrive in Baddeck, the summer home of Alexander Graham Bell. Visit the ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL MUSEUM. Trace the achievements of the great inventor, who spent his last years on Cape Breton.
Day #5 BADDECK. THE CABOT TRAIL. This morning, drive along the famous Cabot Trail, an area first explored by John Cabot just five years after Columbus landed in the New World. Travel through CAPE BRETON HIGHLANDS NATIONAL PARK, climb 1,500-foot capes, skirt rugged coastal headlands, and pass through villages where ancient dialects can still be heard. Before leaving the Cabot Trail, stop at the Acadian fishing village of Cheticamp.
Day #6 BADDECK–CHARLOTTETOWN. Head back to the peninsula and continue north to Caribou, where a ferry whisks you across NORTHUMBERLAND STRAIT to Prince Edward Island. Day #9 MONCTON–MIRAMICHI. The day begins with a stop at the LA DUNE DE BOUCTOUCHE ECO-CENTRE, developed to preserve one of the few remaining great sand dunes in North America. The white sand dune stretches more than 7 miles across Bouctouche Bay and has remained virtually unchanged since the glaciers melted. It is a haven for wildlife and there is a mile-long boardwalk that winds across the dune where visitors can observe the wildlife without encroaching on this sensitive area. Our journey continues to Miramichi, situated along the world-famous salmon-angling river.
Day #10 MIRAMICHI–FREDERICTON. Today we make our way to Fredericton, New Brunswick’s capital city. Enjoy a highlight tour that includes the Christ Church Cathedral and the Historic Garrison District. Continue to the St. John River Valley and KINGS LANDING HISTORICAL SETTLEMENT. Disembark to find yourself back in time at a loyalist village complete with creaking wagons pulled by workhorses, the whooshing of hoop skirts, and melodies from fiddlers, along with breathtaking views of the St. John River. Overnight in Fredericton.
Day #11 FREDERICTON–ST. ANDREWS–SAINT JOHN. This morning, travel to the resort town of St. Andrews by-the-Sea for included WHALE WATCHING. Cruise past rugged seascapes and lighthouses for a true adventure. Stroll and explore
the unique shops that line Water Street before following the beautiful Fundy Coast to Saint John, the Fundy City. Your time in Saint John is free for independent sightseeing.

Note:
Several factors influence a successful whale-watching and wildlife excursion—Mother Nature does not keep a schedule. Therefore, we cannot guarantee sightings at any time.
Day #12 SAINT JOHN–FUNDY NATIONAL PARK–HOPEWELL ROCKS–HALIFAX. Connect with the land, ocean, and wide-open sky as we travel through FUNDY NATIONAL PARK. Along the way, stop at HOPEWELL ROCKS and learn about the highest and wildest tides in the world, which rise and fall up to 52 feet! Time and tide have carved from the cliffs and coves distinctive sandstone formations topped with trees. Many of the formations have nicknames inspired by their appearance. Look for Lover’s Arch, Dinosaur Rock, Mother-in-Law, and ET, just to name a few. An evening arrival into the modern port of Halifax.
Day #13 HALIFAX. PEGGY’S COVE EXCURSION. Travel to one of the most photographed locations in Canada—PEGGY’S COVE. Mail a postcard from the only lighthouse in North America with a post office!
